The differences of education system in USA, UK and Indonesia

Education system in every country is different. That system depends on its citizen characteristic. High school in USA called senior high school has same system just like in Indonesia. Although that, USA has more specific subject than in Indonesia. For example in science course, there are geology, anatomy, astronomy, health science, environmental science, and forensic science. Beside that, in some schools, there is a lesson about health care, such as, anatomy, nutrition, first aid, sexual education, include the use of illegal drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. I think it is good for Indonesian school to teach about that. So that the students will learn more about science. In USA, the high school student may choose some courses. The school offer journalism or publishing, art, business education, computer science, etc. But the most commonly the student takes foreign language (French, German, Italian, etc) and physical education (PE or gym). In Indonesia we can take the foreign languages just in college. It is better if Indonesian student study it earlier.

The interesting lesson in USA is drivers’ education that can take during school or after school. Hmmm.. if in here, we must take a drives’ course that is outside the school time. In some times there is a study hall or study period that used to complete the missing homework, to study for tests. It holds when they aren’t having an academic class. In this time, they have an advance to discuss about the lesson that they didn’t know. They will not feel bored because they can turn on their phone, play games. Once again, it will be good for Indonesian to make this system, so the students not become tired of regular lessons.

I don’t know why, but I’m a little bit confused with the education system in United Kingdom. It is because there so many level such as Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and the other. Also, there are so many test that we must do to go to the college. But, say about the fee, it is free for ages 3 – 18, because the government pays it from the national taxation. The student may have the charge for activities, for examples swimming, theater visits and field trips. So, it will be cheaper, right?

The Health Care System between Indonesia and South Korea

We need doctor to heal our disease. We need them when we get injury. So, the government built a lot of hospital or it called public health care system. Having a responsibility, they make an effort to make a good and professional public health care system. In Indonesia, the health care system is not really good. If we get injured, we want the doctor to recover us. And put in a big hope that he or she will make us healthy. But, in reality, because of their careless, they can’t do that. I think, it can happen because there aren’t enough professional doctors and the utilities in Indonesia for the treatment aren’t good enough. Beside that, sometimes we get the problem about its medication payment. The poor poeple usually complain about the cost of its medicine very expensive. The poor people can’t just go to the hospital in the city because it will make more expensive. Because of their financial, some of them just stay at home although they got a disease. So that, it make them suffered and put them in serious condition. Our government can’t let it happen all of the time. They must protect their citizen.
I read an article about health care system in South Korea. Its system is very good. It’s cheap and efficient. If you go to the specialist, you will describe your disease, then the doctor give you prescribe that just take 15 minutes and the cost is less than $3.50! it’s very cheap, right? Actually, the health care system in South Korea is run by the government. The poor people, refugees will have medical insurance without pay the premium. It called medical protection. For the other people whose economics is good, they also get the medical insurance but they must pay for the premium. Using this system, the citizen will pay 30% of the treatment cost and the government will pick up the rest. They also ask their citizen to get a health check once a year. Our government should imitate this. Between poor people and rich people can check up to the hospital with the cheap cost. They will always healthy because they get check up annually.
But, the health care system in South Korea also has a bad side. Because of the government that handles the financial, so the doctor has their salary just from them. It’s low salary for the doctor. So, they do the other way to get more. They prescribe the medicine and want to receive some kickbacks from its pharmaceutical companies. It means, the doctor who prescribes the medicine from pharmaceutical companies will get some fees. They will write more medicine although it’s not really needed to get the profit. It can make an unfair business practical.
From my opinion, if our government tries the good health care system of South Korea, all of Indonesian people will not feel afraid of the payment. They will go to the hospital whatever the illness is serious or not. I think, it will make them more peaceful.

Our Environment In Jember

I want to talk about my house environment. You know Rembangan that is a favorite place to visit, right? I live near there. It is Semangka Street. The weather here is fresh, especially in the morning. And the scenery is beautiful because around my house, there are some rice fields and rivers. The farmers here cultivate their rice field with traditional ways. For example, a farmer who spreads predators (snakes) to eat their prey (rats). So that, the rat doesn’t eat the farmer’s plant (grains). Farmers use pesticides in the right amount to exterminate the plant disease, therefore it doesn’t make air pollution.

If you go to Rembangan, along the journey you will find some citizen plant dragon fruit. In here, it is good to plant dragon fruit, because of its temperature. Besides the citizen, there is a company who plants that fresh fruit, and sells it. Some visitors who go there for holiday always buy its dragon fruit because they just can find it here. In Rembangan Area you will also find animal husbandry. The citizens breed cow and goat. They breed it for their milk. My brother and my father have ever been there. They tried the fresh milk. But, I didn’t want to try it, because I think, its smell was not good. Not only in Rembangan but also in Mangli, there is a fabric that manages fresh cow milk. It called Milku. The fabric processes the milk, then makes it into package and also yoghurt. Because it is located far from the town and doesn’t make fabric smoke, so it isn’t really disturbs the citizen. Besides that, it doesn’t make pollution.

Because a lot of people come to Rembangan, on its road side, there are some food sellers. It is good for the visitor, but do you know the effect of it? Yeah, of course the road is become dirty because many of visitors throw the rubbish not in the right place.

Now, same like the condition above, I will tell you something about the effect of rubbish. In UNEJ Area, Mastrip Street, especially in front of the Medical Faculty, there are a lot of rubbishes that is thrown not in the proper place. It is disgusting and disturbs our sight! Because of that rubbishes plug up the gutter so, when it was rain, the UNEJ area always floods. Although the water is not really deep, but it disturbs the traffic.

Pollution in Jember usually is caused by the transportation smoke and household waste. Year by year, the population in this country is increase. We can see so many vehicles in the morning in the town and it make us can’t enjoy the fresh air. About the household waste, some river becomes contaminate because of it. Some people do their household’s job in the river, for example, wash their clothes or wash the dishes in the river. Because Jember is a small city, there aren’t industrial activities that waste the smoke and make pollution.
